John Magill is a retired curator/historian from The Historic New Orleans Collection. He has written and lectured extensively about the urban development of New Orleans, its neighborhoods and business, as well as Carnival. Examples of books to which he has contributed include: Marie Adrian Persac: Louisiana Artist, Charting Louisiana: 500 Years of Maps,and, with Peggy Scott Laborde, co-wrote Canal Street: New Orleans Great Wide Way and Christmas in New Orleans.
