He also authored The Jew in the Lotus, which The New York Times called “a revered text”; Stalking Elijah, winner of the National Jewish Book Award; and The History of Last Night’s Dream, which was featured on Oprah Winfrey’s Soul Series. His most recent prose is Burnt Books.

Her two most recent poetry collections are Rhythm & Booze, Maxine Kumin’s selection for the National Poetry Series and a finalist for the Poets’ Prize, and Jazz Funeral, the winner of the Donald Justice Poetry Prize. She is a former Fulbright scholar and professor of English at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La.
