Creative Diversity: The Power of Art, Personal Choice, and Bearing Witness
Four award-winning children and young adult authors (Brendan Kiely, Daniel José Older, Jason Reynolds, and Jewell Parker Rhodes) discuss how they "do" diversity as individuals and as artists.  Exploring oppressive structures in publishing and society, the writers will explore artistic challenges as well as benefits of resisting biases.  The personal becomes the political; the political, the personal; and all informs the stories we tell.
Brendan Kiely’s and Jason Reynolds’s appearance made possible in part by Louisiana Cultural Vistas, the magazine of the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.
