Debbie Vehnekamp

Biography

Debbie Vehnekamp is a retired elementary school librarian and current reading teacher. She is the mother of two grown daughters. Vehnekamp was born and raised in Laurel, Mississippi, has lived in Texas and Alaska, and now lives in Mandeville, Louisiana, with her husband, Billy, and her dog, Stella. She loves to read books to and with children and feels extremely privileged to have been a part of so many children’s reading lives over the years.

The Girl Who Loves Lemons

This is an endearing story about a girl and her grandmother who loved to eat lemons together. Courtney grew up eating lemons many different ways, and now when she does, she thinks of "Nonnie" who introduced her to the fruit when she was only five.
