Freddi Williams Evans

Freddi Williams Evans is internationally known for her work on Congo Square including her book Congo Square: African Roots in New Orleans. Her books for young readers include Come Sunday: A Young Reader’s History of Congo Square, Hush Harbor: Praying in SecretThe Battle of New Orleans: The Drummer’s Story, and A Bus of Our Own. Evans received the 2024 Lifetime Contributions to the Humanities award from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.
