Jay Hakes began his career teaching at the University of New Orleans and later returned to the city after almost four decades away. In between, Hakes took on multiple assignments from three American presidents, including administrator of the highly regarded U.S. Energy Information Administration and director of the Carter Presidential Library. He has published numerous articles and books on presidential, energy, and environmental history.
