Since 2008, Rick Kelley has been an ambassador for the Louisiana Book Festival, performing concerts at elementary schools all over the state to promote reading and invite hundreds of kids to the festival. Inspired by the authors he’s met through LBF, Kelley decided to adapt some of his original songs into children’s picture books. His first effort was Sharing Sharon in 2015, followed by I Read About It in a Book, which not only promotes reading physical books but also his favorite people, librarians.

I Read about It in a Book

We would like to introduce you to Read (like Red), the hero of I Read About It In A Book.

Read loves books very much and wants you to love them too.

Did you know that books are like smart pills and that every book you read makes you a little bit smarter? Even better, you can open any book and magically transport yourself anywhere in the universe or back in time, just by using your imagination. How cool is that?

Author Rick Kelley, illustrator Cindy Jakeway, and Read, all hope you will enjoy I Read About It in a Book.
