Spoken word artist and graphic designer Valentine Pierce was A Studio in the Woods’ June 2006 Writer-in-Residence. Pierce co-hosted Rhythm & Muse feature/open mic at Berkeley Museum in the early 2000s and hosted/produced poetry programs throughout New Orleans. Her recent publications have been included in New Orleans Poetry Journal and Rigorous Magazine and her books include Up Decatur: Second Edition, which was published in 2023, and her debut book, Geometry of the Heart, which was published in 2007.
